About Mentorship Program

The ACM-W Mentorship Program is designed to provide unique opportunities for second-year mentees to learn and gain guidance from experienced fourth-year mentors. The program is conducted over a period of two months, typically in May and June. In the previous year, the program consisted of 17 mentees and 60 mentors.

The program offers various activities that help mentees prepare for the upcoming internship and recruitment season. Some of these activities include resume reviews, discussions of interests, resource sharing, mock interviews, and one-to-one meets.

How is it helpful?

The ACM-W Mentorship Program is beneficial to mentees in many ways. Throughout the program, mentors guide mentees in developing a captivating resume and profile that aligns with their desired job position. Multiple sessions are dedicated to conducting comprehensive reviews of the mentee's resume. Mock interviews are conducted, allowing the mentees to practice their communication skills for the interview process. Subsequently, the mentor provides detailed feedback to help the mentee improve their confidence and communication during interviews.

In addition, the program provides internship resources that are tailored to the mentees' respective domains and are shared by their mentors to aid in their preparation. Several sessions are also held to offer mentees a comprehensive understanding of the internship process, off-campus and research opportunities, placements, and higher studies. The program also offers personalized guidance to assist mentees in selecting the ideal role based on their short and long-term objectives.

Outcomes

The ACM-W Mentorship Program has had positive outcomes for the mentees. The program's comprehensive approach helps mentees develop captivating and compelling resumes, improve their communication skills, and navigate through the internship season successfully. The program experience helps alleviate the pressure typically associated with the internship and recruitment process, resulting in increased confidence in the mentees. Overall, the ACM-W Mentorship Program provides a valuable platform for second-year students to learn and gain guidance from experienced mentors and helps mentees develop the necessary skills and resources to succeed in their career pursuits.
